Delhi-NCR continues to reel under severe air pollution as residents struggle to breathe cleaner air. On Tuesday morning, the national capital woke up under a blanket of thick smog, drastically reducing visibility. The situation was so severe that even India Gate remained hidden behind the haze.
As per early morning readings, Delhi recorded an average AQI of 363, falling in the ‘very poor’ category. Several monitoring stations, however, registered even worse air quality, with Rohini recording the highest AQI at 416.
In view of the deteriorating air quality, the Delhi government has implemented work-from-home for 50% staff in all government and private offices.
Pollution Levels Across NCR Cities
According to CPCB’s Sameer App, the most polluted regions in Delhi this morning were Anand Vihar, Wazirpur, Rohini, and Jahangirpuri.
Other NCR cities also recorded highly polluted air:
- Noida: AQI 390
- Greater Noida: AQI 382
- Ghaziabad: AQI 348
- Gurugram: AQI 311
- Faridabad: AQI 222
Delhi’s air quality has remained in the ‘very poor’ category for 11 consecutive days. On Monday, the overall AQI stood at 382, while 15 monitoring stations crossed the 400 mark, touching the ‘severe’ category.

AQI Trend Over the Past Few Days
- Sunday: 391
- Saturday: 370
- Friday: 374
- Thursday: 391

Areas such as ITO, Punjabi Bagh, Vivek Vihar, Narela, and Bawana recorded AQI levels above 400, indicating hazardous air quality.
Vehicles Contribute the Most to Delhi’s Pollution
According to the Decision Support System (DSS) of IITM Pune:
- Vehicles contributed 21.6% to Delhi’s pollution on Monday — the highest share among all sources.
- Stubble burning accounted for 1.8% of the pollution.
For November 25, the contribution is expected to remain around 21% (vehicles) and 1.6% (stubble burning).
Stubble Burning Incidents
Satellite-based data from November 23 recorded:
- 3 cases in Punjab
- 1 case in Haryana
- 522 cases in Uttar Pradesh
These stubble burning incidents continue to add to the already poor air quality.
Weather Update
As per IMD:
- Minimum temperature: 9.3°C (2°C below normal)
- Maximum temperature: 26.1°C
Moderate fog is expected on November 25, with maximum temperature likely to hover around 24°C.
