In a major security alert near the national capital, police have uncovered 350 kilograms of explosives, suspected to be ammonium nitrate, along with an assault rifle, pistol, magazines, and timers from Faridabad in Haryana. The operation, led by Jammu and Kashmir Police in coordination with Haryana Police, has so far resulted in the arrest of two doctors from Jammu and Kashmir and a woman doctor from a Faridabad hospital.
Explosives and Weapons Recovered Near Delhi
Officials confirmed that the explosives, stored in 12 suitcases, were discovered from a rented room in the Dhoj area of Faridabad. The seizure also included 20 timers, 83 live rounds, a walkie-talkie set, and multiple magazines.
Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta said the recovery suggests that someone is planning a potential terror plot dangerously close to Delhi Authorities are investigating how such a massive quantity of explosive material reached the national capital region undetected.
Doctors Under Investigation for Terror Links
According to sources, the crackdown began after the arrest of Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, a Kashmiri doctor accused of putting up posters supporting terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Srinagar on October 27. CCTV footage had shown him placing the posters, leading to his arrest in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
During interrogation, Rather revealed crucial information that led investigators to Dr. Mujammil Shakeel, another doctor from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, who was working at Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre in Faridabad.
Police later searched Shakeel’s rented accommodation and found the massive cache of explosives. During a subsequent raid, officials also discovered an AK-74 rifle, a pistol, ammunition, and magazines in a Maruti Suzuki Swift car belonging to a woman doctor working with Shakeel. She has also been taken into custody for questioning.
Terror Network Involving Educated Professionals
Investigators say the involvement of medical professionals in such a case is alarming. Both Dr. Rather and Dr. Shakeel are highly educated individuals, which suggests that terror networks may be recruiting skilled professionals to avoid detection and gain access to secure environments.
Police sources added that the explosives had reached Faridabad about two weeks ago, and the exact motive or intended target remains unclear. Authorities are now tracing possible links between the arrested doctors and Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based terrorist organization.
