Indian Air Force Day 2025 was celebrated with grandeur across the country, marking the 93rd foundation day of one of India’s most respected armed forces. Observed annually on October 8, Air Force Day commemorates the establishment of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in 1932 and honours the brave air warriors who safeguard India’s skies.
Grand Celebrations at Hindon Air Base
The main celebrations of Air Force Day 2025 were held at Hindon Air Base, Ghaziabad, one of India’s largest and most strategic airbases. The parade showcased India’s aerial strength and operational readiness with an impressive display of fighter jets, including the Rafale, Sukhoi Su-30MKI, and MiG-29. The recently retired MiG-21 Bison was also displayed as a tribute to over six decades of service.
This year’s celebrations highlighted the achievements of Operation Sindoor 2025, emphasizing the IAF’s operational strength, technological advancements, and humanitarian role.
Key Highlights of the Parade
- Static Display: Along with fighter jets, the parade featured India’s indigenous Netra AEW&C, C-17 Globemaster III, Akash Surface-to-Air Missile System, C-130J Hercules, Apache attack helicopters with Longbow radar, and Advanced Light Helicopter. An S-band Rohini radar was also part of the display.
- Tribute to Heroes: Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Indian Air Force, inspected the guard of honour. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, along with chiefs of the Army and Navy, paid homage to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial.
- Operation Sindoor Recognition: The display also highlighted the platforms involved in forcing Islamabad to seek a ceasefire following cross-border aggression, showcasing IAF’s strategic efficiency.
Greetings from President and Prime Minister
On the occasion, President Droupadi Murmu extended warm greetings to Air Force personnel, veterans, and their families. She praised the IAF for its courage, dedication, and excellence in serving the nation during conflicts, disasters, and humanitarian missions.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his greetings, recognizing the IAF’s vital role in safeguarding India’s skies, especially during critical situations, and he additionally applauded their bravery, discipline, and precision.
